Ascot Charity Ball 2004...
The Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK was the national charity chosen this year by The Ascot Charitable Trust for their annual ball, held at the Royal Ascot Racecourse, which raised in excess of £70,000.
Cabaret was provided by Frank Carson and guests danced the night away to music by The Tornados and The Midnight Rider Roadshow. Compère for the evening was Peter Marshall.
The evening included a champagne reception, gala dinner, fabulous live entertainment, and a grand auction including romantic holiday destinations and memorabilia from sporting legends, a silent auction, and tombola.
Local beneficiaries included:
Ascot United Football Club
Warfield Boys’ Football Club
Paul Bevan Foundation
Heathermount Autistic School WAMSAD
Here's a picture from the event as well as the letter of thanks sent by the charity:
Below are some exerts taken from letters received from other causes also helped at this years event:
"Thank you very much for the cheque for £2,000. We are very appreciative of the support that the Ascot Charitable Trust has given us. You can rest assured that the money will be spent wisely and that we will continue to do the right things to give the community a club it can be proud of. Thanks again."
Mike Harrison - Ascot United Football Club
“On behalf of the members of WAMSAD, I would like to thank the Ascot Charitable Trust for their donation. As you probably know, WAMSAD prides itself on the quality of sports it provides for people with sensorial and physical disabilities and are delighted to report that three of our members who went to the Athens Paralympics this year came back with Gold, Silver and Bronze medals. We are entirely self-funded and therefore rely on Trusts such as yourselves for charitable donations so that we may continue to give the quality of service our members have become used to.”
Liz Hornby - WAMSAD
